Statement
My series of paintings, Spicy Dames and Tales of Mystery, is an investigation into the role of the femme fatale in vintage pulp fiction magazines and film noir from the 1930's - 50's. The images are executed in vibrant large scale oil paintings on canvas and delicate mixed media artworks on handmade paper. With the incorporation of text for story titles, design fragments of noir covers and vintage advertisements, they offer a glimpse into stories of crime, romance, murder and mystery.
